Volunteer Opportunities

At the ReStores, we work hard to keep our ReStore operation costs to a minimum in order to maximize the profit donated to Habitat Chesapeake to help build homes. With this in mind, each store is staffed with a minimum number of paid employees, while volunteers make up the majority of our ReStore workforce. That's why we need you.

As new donations come in each day, volunteers assist in accepting these contributions, preparing items for sale, pricing stock, arranging inventory both on the showroom floor. Plus, our volunteers help keep our warehouse and showroom floors well organized and sparkling clean. Volunteers also assist our shoppers, providing helpful customer service and support.

With the help of thousands of volunteers, Habitat Chesapeake ReStores can effectively support Habitat Chesapeake. Relying on volunteers to accomplish our work helps keep the cost of store operations down, helping to drive up profits. Keeping in mind that 100% of these profits are donated to Habitat Chesapeake to help build decent, affordable homes throughout Central Maryland, your volunteer efforts help build community.

As you can see, there is a great deal of work to be done at our ReStores and your volunteer time is highly valued.

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Each ReStore has a variety of volunteer positions open on a daily basis. Click on the positions below for a detailed description of each.

ReStore is a great place for team building activities for your work place, faith community, or civic group, and can accommodate groups of up to 20.

Sales & Customer Service Guru

We're looking for volunteers who like to interact with people throughout the day and feel comfortable learning to run a cash register. You'll also be armed with a pricing gun to help price items as they come out on to the floor. You'll spend time with ReStore's amazing volunteers while meeting people from the community, all of whom are supporting Habitat!

Are you a sociable person? Do you excel at customer service? You're the first ReStore representative that customers meet, and you'll answer questions, direct people to different departments, and make people feel welcome.

Repair Boss

With a little attention (repair, refinishing, etc.) that wonky wobbly table can get a new face and these items can raise funds for Habitat and be rescued from cluttering our landfills. We're looking for someone to help provide some TLC to our furniture and other items that need touch-ups.

Stay active and enjoy the fun and camaraderie in this fast-paced warehouse position. Warehouse volunteers help to maintain the flow of merchandise from the truck to the warehouse to the showroom floor, and help with customer service.
